The regulations provide for any person who undertakes to do electrical installation work to ensure that a valid certificate of compliance is issued for that work. It is therefore imperative for users to ensure that electrical contractors, who perform alterations or additions to the electrical installations, certify the extent of their work.
This also applies to the addition of automated gate motors, swimming pool or spa bath connections, changing of geysers including solar systems, and the like. Users are cautioned however that many operators who undertake the above work are NOT suitably registered and may not sign the required Certificate of Compliance. In such cases, users must insist upon the appointment of a suitably Registered Person to inspect and test the work and then obtain a valid Certificate of Compliance.
